Essential Oils and Health

Essential oils can be helpful in maintaining a healthy environment.  Here are some tips to try (Note:  these tips are not intended as medical treatments, always consult your medical professional for any health issue.)

Citronella oil on the melted wax of a candle or hot charcoal briquette can dispel mosquitoes and other picnic pests.

For warts, try one drop of lemon essential oil applied directly to the wart daily until it disappears.

If you overindulge, try essential oils of juniper, cedar wood, lavender, carrot, fennel, rosemary and lemon.  Use a total of six drops of these blended oils in a bath.

Rosemary promotes alertness and stimulates memory.  Inhale during long car trips or while reading and studying.

For a restful sleep, put one or two drops of chamomile, lavender, or neroli oil on your pillow before going to bed.

For minor burns or scalds, apply tea tree oil.

To aid indigestion and relieve an upset stomach, put one drop of peppermint oil in half a glass of water and sip slowly.

To cool the body in summer and protect it in winter, use one drop of chamomile oil in the bath.

During flu season, add a few drops of thyme oil to a diffuser or let it simmer in a pan on the stove.
