Michael Reed Gach, PhD and Beth Ann Henning, Dipl., A.B.T. indicate in their book Acupressure for Emotional Healing, that common symptoms of repressed anger are:
- shoulder tension
- grinding of the teeth
- neck tension and headaches
- heart disease or stroke
- high blood pressure and
- digestive problems
Although we encounter situations that raise the strong emotion we know as anger; it is possible to learn how to harness anger when it rushes into your awareness.
Here’s a quick tip proposed by Gach and Henning to help manage your anger in any situation.
- Hold the middle finger of either hand and make a long “aaaaaah” sound while exploring your feelings…do this for approximately two minutes.
- If you are in a public place, just hold the middle finger and exhale slowly through your mouth instead of making the “aaaaaah” sound.
- Continue holding your middle finger and exhaling deeply for two minutes.
