Connecting to the Light Meditation

This meditation is adapted from the Love or Above Spiritual Tool Kit by Christie Marie Sheldon.

Sit in a comfortable position.

Lightly touch the thumb of the  right hand to the tip of the little finger of the right hand and take a deep breath.  Say “re” on the inhale and “lax” on the exhale, making the exhale longer than the inhale.  Allow the body to release tension, fears, worries and thoughts; breathe out your day.

Move the thumb of the right hand to lightly touch the tip of the ring finger of the right hand and take a deep breath.  Say “re” on the inhale and “lax” on the exhale, making the exhale longer than the  inhale.  Allow the body to release tension, fears, worries and thoughts; breathe out your day.

Move the thumb of the right hand to lightly touch the tip of the middle finger of the right hand and take a deep breath.  Say “re” on the inhale and “lax” on the exhale, making the exhale longer than the inhale. Allow the body to release tension, fears, worries and thoughts; breathe out your day.

Move the thumb of the right hand to lightly touch the index finger of the right hand.  Close the eyes and look up.  See or sense a golden white light coming through the top of your head, entering your crown chakra and filling your head, your eyes, your face, flowing down through your throat and neck.

Keep the thumb and index finger together while you allow the light to flow to your shoulders, down your arms, past your elbows, forearms, your wrists, through your hands.  Allow the light to flow out your palm chakras and out your fingertips.

Put the thumb of the left hand and the tip of the left index finger together while you allow the light to flow down your back, your chest, out the front and back of your heart, through your stomach and abdomen.

Keep the thumb and tip of the left index finger together while you allow the light to flow through your hips, down your thighs, your knees, your calves, your ankles, your feet, out your foot chakras and through the ends of your toes.

Keep both hands in their final position with the index finger and thumb of each hand touching while the other fingers are comfortably straight and the palm is facing up.  This hand position is called Jnana mudra according to Bella Terreno, and is believed to increase mental concentration, memory and intellect while redirecting prana emitted by the hands back into the body.

At your hip area, sense a belt of light circling the body.  Attached to the belt at the outside of each leg is a beam of light that goes down the leg and enters the earth.  Allow the beam of light to go to the center of the earth.

Imagine all dark, heavy energy within the body flowing down these two shafts of light, going deep within the earth where the energy is transformed into gratitude and appreciation.  The energy of gratitude and appreciation is bathed in a pink glow and flows back up the shaft of light beside each leg.  It flows up the body and out the front and back of the heart, creating a donut shape of pink-tinged golden white light surrounding the body at the heart chakra.

Ask the light to follow you in your day, erasing all thoughts of fear, worry or undesired emotions.  When you are ready, become fully aware of your surroundings.  Open your eyes, feel fully energized, knowing all is well and good.
